Solutions to Common Skin Problems

An article released by Fox News discusses solutions to common issues men experience with their skin, including wrinkles, acne, sunburn and rashes. Men’s skin is exposed to a multitude of harsh conditions on a daily basis, including chemical, UV rays, and infections. Products that have been successful in treating these concerns include skin treatments that utilize salicylic acid and aloe vera.

Dr. Simon Ourian, Medical Director of Epione Beverly Hills agrees with the article's statement that acne is a medical condition that may require medical treatment. He says, “Over-the-counter skin washes may be the first line of treatment for those who get pimples occasionally.”

The sun is one of the harshest and most damaging elements to the skin. Even a small amount of exposure to the sun’s harmful rays can be problematic. The most effective prevention for skin damage caused by the sun is to keep covered as best as possible and apply a generous amount of sunscreen daily, even in the winter. The article says that one possible treatment for sunburn is the use of Vitamin E. Simply cut a liquid gel tablet in half and apply the liquid over the affected area.

Dr. Simon always encourages his patients to minimize their exposure to the sun as much as possible, but what he agrees with most in the article is the recommendation to quit smoking. “Aside from the obvious health benefits of quitting, smoking prematurely ages the skin.”
