TIEd Together - A West Van photo exhibit bringing awareness to prostate cancer
Pictures of famous Canadians affected by prostate cancer are on display this weekend in West Vancouver.
"TIEd Together" features 100 intimate portraits of notables like Pierre Trudeau, Brett Wilson and Preston Manning. The photos are being used to raise awareness to the disease, which will affect 25,000 Canadians this years.
Local prostate cancer survivor Robb Lucy says he hopes the exhibit inspires men to get tested.
"When you are tested and if it comes out positive, your whole family is affected," he explains. "It's your wife and it's your children, so (the exhibit) tells that story. It's my council to any male out there over the age of 50, get a PSA test, which is a simple blood test."
The show is at Park Royal until Sunday before it heads across Canada.
The Canadian Cancer Society says one in seven men will be diagnosed with the disease in their lifetime. The exhibit is at Park Royal Mall in West Van until Sunday.
